Introduction |
|
In november 2007 I travelled to Bhutan. I visited some temples and monasteries in the west of the country. In the west there are some large settlements like Paro and the capital Thimphu. I also visited small remote villages of the Monpa minority near Trongsa in central Bhutan. Jakhar is a small town in the Bhumtang valley which is famous for its many old temples and monasteries. A small and winding road along high mountain passes and steep green valleys led me to Mongar and Trashigang. In these eastern villages I attended some religious festivals.
