In july 2006 I visited China. In Beijing I was at the palace of the former emperor and the nearby hutongs of his imperial officials. I also visited the summer palace outside the city. In Xian I paid a visit to the tomb of the first emperor who ordered the construction of the Great Wall. I met various national minorities in different parts of the country. Like Hui muslims in Xian and Tibetan buddhists in Xiahe. In Yunnan I met other minorities like the Naxi in Lijiang and the Bai in Dali. At the end of my trip I met the Yao and Zhuang in Ping An.
