Video

This videoclip lasts more than three minutes and starts with pictures of natural vegetation in the national park at Bako. Among the mangrove trees of the park live proboscis monkeys who are an endangered species of  animals. The wildlife rehabilitation centre in Semenggoh offers a safe home for another kind of animals near to extinction, the orang utans. The videoclip continues with pictures of the Iban in the heart of Borneo showing their longhouses in Ngemah Ili and Kachong. The clip also shows pictures of the nomadic Penan in Batu Bungan a permanent settlement which the government built for them as part of a special development program. The clip ends with pictures of the national park on the main island of Pulau Tiga. Mud volcanoes remind of its origin a few centuries ago.  Along the coast live giant monitor lizards who sneak away in the water despite their dangerous appearance.

The music in the videoclip is traditional taboh ngajat or dance music of the Iban. They use instruments like the enkrumong or xylophone made of gongs in different forms and sizes on a wooden frame. The Iban not only use these bronze instruments (idiophones) but a wooden dumbak or drum (membranophone) as well. They play their traditional dance music at a gawai or ritual festival which still has an important place in their social life. The music in the clip is written for a dance at the gawai dayak or harvest festival. Nowadays it is a national holiday for all original inhabitants of Borneo.
